An Africa-rooted film festival dedicated to lived-experience storytelling and challenges around appearance, skin, looks, image, identity, and dignity.
IN PLAIN SIGHT is a YouTube-based film festival creating space for real people to tell real stories about how appearance shapes their lives, particularly within Sub-Saharan African contexts, where skin, visibility, and identity are often misunderstood, underrepresented, or silenced.
This is not a beauty festival.
This is not a cosmetic conversation.
This is not about perfection or performance.
We centre lived experience, stories of people who have been stared at, judged, medicalised, mocked, excluded, or made invisible because of how they look.
Through curated film screenings, storytelling labs, live conversations, and a culminating in-person showcase, IN PLAIN SIGHT exists to challenge stigma, restore dignity, and make visible what has always been present, yet rarely truly seen.
Stories in Plain Sight.
